Cartoons are a great way to help you communicate with humor and enliven your PowerPoint presentations, newsletters, blog, educational materials, trade show displays, brochures, manuals, and anything else you can imagine. Please keep in mind that each cartoon took a considerable amount of time to write and draw. The artist’s training and experience in art, graphics and writing are all put to use in the creation of each cartoon.

“My goal is not only to make people laugh, but to give other business professionals some humorous tools that they can use to get their message across to their audience more effectively. I’d like to think that I am making the world a better place – one smile at a time.”

Cartoon Use License

The “Use License” fee for using a single cartoon is $10.00 which allows the purchaser to use that cartoon in as many types of publications as needed for the period of one year from the date of purchase.  That is less than a dollar a month, and this is a tax-deductible business expense.

How can you afford these low prices for licensing your cartoons?

Because the cartoons are continuously available for licensing to the public and are not exclusive. I also have clients that prefer custom cartoons that are their exclusive property and not available to the general public. Contact me for pricing on custom cartoons.

How Do I License a Cartoon?

It’s quick and easy!
• Just browse the cartoon galleries, and when you see a cartoon you want click on the “add to cart” button.
• When you are ready to check out, just use the PayPal shopping cart screens to pay with your credit card.
• You will receive an email with a download link for each cartoon.

What exactly will I receive?

Your electronic cartoon image file will be a print-ready high resolution JPEG suitable for print or presentations. You may wish to re-size the cartoon image for posting in a blog or other Internet sites. As soon as you pay with PayPal, you will immediately get an email response with a link to download each cartoon file.

How quickly will I receive my order?

Immediately after you pay with Pay Pal, You will receive an email which will contain the hyperlink(s) to download the cartoon file(s). The download link will be active in the email for only 24 hours. If you do not receive an email with the link to your cartoon file(s) after you pay or if your link expired, contact me at: artist@hipaacartoons.com.

I want to use a Cartoon for ongoing training. Can I get an extended license for longer than a year?

An Extended Use License would be $30 for each cartoon. This license allows you to use a cartoon indefinitely and for any form of publication. The extended use license does not grant exclusivity rights, therefore the same cartoons will continue to be posted on HIPAACartoons.com for the public. Extended Use License “package” pricing is also available:
• To license 6 – 12 cartoons, the license would be $25 each.
• To license over 12 cartoons, the license is $20 per cartoon.

To purchase cartoons under the “Extended Use License” agreement, just email me and tell me which cartoons you want, and I will send you an invoice through PayPal. After payment, I will send you a link to download the cartoon files (hi-resolution 300 dpi jpeg) and the license agreement. This process can be accomplished in a couple of days, if you do not request any customization. With any cartoon changes/customization, it will take slightly longer.

I will send you an invoice from PayPal, which you can pay with a credit card or other payment arrangements can be made. On the invoice I will send you the extended use license, which will list the cartoons. Within 24 hours after the invoice is paid, I will send you a link to download the high definition cartoon file(s).

I can also create original custom cartoons (see question below). Custom cartoons can be licensed indefinitely or exclusively yours.

I don't want to use Paypal. May I send a check?

Certainly.  Make out a check to “R.J. Romero” and mail to 295 Buckingham Way, Suite 905, San Francisco, CA 94132. I can provide a W-9 upon request for your accounting records.

I'm from a non-profit, a teacher or a student so may I use your cartoons for free?

I may be a starving artist but I don’t go around asking people to work for free. I would love to be able to give my work away to worthy causes, but my dastardly creditors don’t accept good deeds in lieu of cash. Sorry, but people need to pay my very low $10 license fees (which are tax deductible) so I can eke out a living.

Your cartoon licensing is cheap but any chance of getting a discount?

Well, I try to gouge folks as much as I can. Really?!? You can’t afford a $10 license fee, which is tax deductible?  If you shop around for cartoons you will find my fees are the most reasonable anywhere. If you would like to license several cartoons (6 or more) see below for package deals.

Do you offer package deals?

Absolutely. If you would like to license several cartoons (6 or more cartoons), please contact me directly to make arrangements for a package discount.

Do you do custom cartoons?

Yes. I can do a custom designed cartoon or illustration for your project. My standard fee for custom cartoons/illustrations is $150. Because a commissioned cartoon or illustration is considered a “work for hire” it is your property and copyright. Therefore, no use license from the artist is needed, as you have the exclusive rights to the image you commissioned.

Note: Creating a new image is not the same as making minor changes to existing cartoons on my website.  Therefore, if you only want to make a minor change to the caption or cartoon, the fees are as follows:

  • Change a caption on an existing cartoon: $10
  • Have a black and white cartoon colorized: $15
  • Change the drawing & caption of an existing cartoon: $25

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

What is your Return Policy?

All sales are final, unless you contact me within one business day from purchase to cancel the order and have not downloaded the cartoon file yet.  If you download the cartoon file, the sale is considered final, even if you do not use the cartoon. If you find a problem with the cartoon file for any reason, I will be happy to replace it as soon as possible or refund your money.

Why do your cartoons have a big Copyright watermark?

I take great pride in my work, and a watermark is a way to deter some copyright thieves.  If you buy the $10 license to use a cartoon, you will receive a high resolution jpeg image without the watermark. If you would not steal a newspaper from a blind vendor just because you could get away with it, then don’t take one of my cartoons without paying for a license just because you think you can get away with it.

How do you get your ideas for the cartoons?

As a working privacy professional, I do privacy and data security training as well as handle incidents. There is always something coming up that rings my inner cartoon alarm. I feel it is my duty (or obsession) to illustrate some of these things to amuse my colleagues out there, as well as provide teaching tools. Your suggestions for cartoons are always welcome.

Do you do other kinds of art?

Yes,thanks for asking. You can see my fine art and portraits at: Romero Art Studio.com
